Cuban and American professionals are in dialogue today at the American Institute of Architects'' Conference on Design taking place in Havana until April 23rd.

The San Geronimo College of Havana will open the meeting with a series of discourses by national specialists to publicize the work done in the study, conservation and rescue of the architectural heritage of the city.

After the lectures, visitors will contrast the issues raised during the exchanges with reality while touring several buildings, including the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso and the Capitol, which is still under restoration.

The theater of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes will also host a presentation of the Havana Art Deco Architecture Guide, by María Elena Martín Zequeira.

Meetings with Cuban students linked to architecture and design are also included in the agenda of American professionals visiting Havana during the event - considered the largest on architecture held here since the 12th World Congress on Art Deco in 2013.

The visit will end in the province of Matanzas, where the experts from the USA will learn about the major architectural landmarks of the city, as well as the programs for the tourist resorts in Varadero.

This, the 47th conference in Havana, gathers specialists committed to preserve and safeguard the architectural legacy of the city.

Created in 1857, with its headquarters in Washington, the American Institute of Architects works to unify architecture professionals from the American continent, to promote artistic and scientific efficiency, as well as the practice of the specialty.
