The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) sent a message of condolence on the death of a close friend of the island, Granada-born Dr. Winston Thomas, the Foreign Ministry highlighted this Friday.
'We join his family and friends in this moment of pain and wish to offer our deepest condolences,' ICAP noted.
The text recalls that Thomas graduated in Cuba and since his return to Granada was linked to the work of the Solidarity Movement, actively strengthening the ties of sisterhood between the two peoples.
He also offered unconditional support to Cuba and permanently condemned the US economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed for almost six decades.
At all times, we had Thomas' support, the note stresses, and adds that 'we are proud of his professionalism, humanistic sense and solidarity vocation; he has gone physically but his spirit will remain with us.' The funeral of Dr. Winston Thomas will be held on August 23.
