As suggested in a previous commentary, the alleged success of the kidnapping of Maduro, carried out on January 3, has, as a popular Cuban song goes, "given him a headache," and now he is throwing threats against Cuba.

This Sunday, on his X Truth Social account, he urged Cuba to "reach an agreement" or face unspecified consequences, and warned that the flow of Venezuelan oil and money to Havana will stop from now on.

"NO MORE OIL OR MONEY FOR CUBA: ZERO!" Trump said on his Truth Social network. "I strongly suggest you reach an agreement BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE," he asserted.

According to Trump, "Cuba lived, for many years, off large quantities of OIL and MONEY from Venezuela. In exchange, Cuba provided 'Security Services' to the last two Venezuelan dictators, BUT NO MORE!"

Although the aspiring world emperor is a renowned mythomaniac, this latest lie is not exactly his own. His current Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has been repeating this fallacy for years, and, as the president has stated on several occasions, Rubio serves as his mastermind for Latin American affairs.

Trump has chosen a poor advisor on the Cuba issue. Marco Rubio is neither Cuban nor does he know absolutely anything about Cuba except for the convenient versions he has been told, in exchange for visas and residency, by the economic migrants who are victims of the harsh sanctions imposed by Trump himself in recent times.

Infested by the rhetoric of Miami's anti-Cuban industry, Marco Rubio and his president—who shamelessly declares that Venezuela's oil is his—cannot understand what solidarity, cooperation, and brotherhood between peoples truly mean. As I said in a previous comment, "The thief thinks everyone is a thief."

The wannabe New York mobster turned president, who probably only learned where Cuba is on the map when he decided to play at televising politics, is perhaps not as foolish as he's made out to be. He realizes that the advice of his anti-Cuban and Latin American conscience is damaging his image in the eyes of world public opinion and his chances of winning the upcoming midterm elections.

In fact, this Sunday the new emperor demoted his advisor to a presumed proconsul of Cuba when, also on his X account, he reposted a message from a user suggesting that Secretary of State Marco Rubio would be president of Cuba, adding the comment: "Sounds good to me!"

This statement must have sounded like an insult to Marco Rubio, considering his past presidential aspirations in the United States and the role he now plays as a puppet master for the new dictator.

Be that as it may, the president should distance himself from such a figure, not only because he steals the spotlight in his new role as global emperor, but also because, in the case of Cuba, he could suffer the same fate as Kennedy at the Bay of Pigs, to whom the CIA swore repeatedly that when the mercenaries of Brigade 2506 landed on Cuban soil, the entire population would take to the streets to support them.

Before it's too late, Trump shouldn't forget that, just like the 32 martyrs who gave their lives defending Maduro, thousands of Cubans have offered theirs for other lands around the world. What wouldn't they be able of doing to defend their homeland?

Before it's too late, the President of the United States should also ask himself why Cuba has managed to resist the criminal aggression of the most powerful nation on the planet for 67 years.

Let's hope the President's threats don't amount to more than another of his blusters against Cuba and don't turn into an act of utter folly!
