EDITORIAL: We are Fidel

“How many of you can perceive his presence so close? How many of you can see him reemerging in every revolutionary process in our region? Can today’s revolutionary men and women face all those huge challenges without thinking of Fidel?”

These were the Cuban President Miguel-Díaz Canel’s words to the attendees at the Sao Paolo Forum, back in October 2021. These words seem to be as if spoken today, when 8 years have passed since the passing away of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, Leader of the Cuban Revolution.

Fidel, as an exceptional politician, with his clear vision of the future, continues to foster the school of thought and the actions of all those in Cuba and in the world who are on the side of those who love and found, as Martí said.

"Thanks to a feeling called love for the homeland, we are strong; thanks to a feeling of love for our fellow men and solidarity with everyone, we are strong; thanks to a state of mind called revolutionary consciousness, we are strong," said the eternal Commander in Chief.

And it is because of his wisdom, creativity and profound humanism that he put education, health, science, culture in the foreground... everything that made the inhabitants of this Island more and more dignified and human. And we are the men and women of today, the ones who from the bottom of our hearts can say loudly: “We are Fidel.”
