Four of the most important experts on public health in the U.S. have recently joined those who have pushed around Trump these days.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, main epidemiologist in the country and White House health advisor, confirmed on Tuesday that more tests to diagnose Covid-19 are needed.

Earlier, while in a rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Trump said he requested to reduce Covid-19 testing to avoid bad statistics within the continent.

The experts denied in a Congress hearing that they had been directed by the White House to reduce Covid-19 testing.

Dr. Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases pointed out: “To my knowledge, none of us have ever been told to slow down on testing. In fact, we are going to do more.”

On the other hand, Robert Redfield — Director of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) — said that his goal is to “increase the immediate and early access to testing.”

Furthermore, Brett Giroir — Assistant Secretary for Health — noted that “the only way to understand the disease is to test smartly as many people as we can.”

Stephen M. Hahn, U.S. Commissioner of Food and Drugs, also denied he had been subjected to pressure by Trump, whose comments shocked and unleashed criticism at a time in which Covid-19 cases are again on the rise and the death toll already surpassed 120,000.

Afterwards, the spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany dared to insinuate that the President was only joking.

However, Trump reaffirmed on Tuesday in an interview that he “was not joking” and insisted on the idea that his country is leading the statistics of infected people because the U.S. is the nation with more Covid-19 tests carried out worldwide.

Additionally, the President and the medical experts showed their difference on the surge of cases.

Dr. Fauci highlighted: “The next couple of weeks are going to be critical in our ability to address those surges in Florida, Texas, Arizona, and other states.”

This shows, once again, that Trump´s words in Tulsa go against the thoughts of several experts within the U.S. scientific world.

In this line, Trump finalized the construction of his monument to cynicism and falsehood.
