What about you, Marcus?, or Rats Abandoning the Trump Ship?

Political hypocrisy makes it impossible to predict exactly what will happen in the landscape of that sham democracy that is the United States, but things have certainly become much more complicated for President Donald Trump.

Political hypocrisy makes it impossible to predict exactly what will happen in the landscape of that sham democracy that is the United States, but things have certainly become much more complicated for President Donald Trump. 160 legislators from both the Democratic and Republican parties have called for his impeachment, based on documentary and audio evidence proving that in 2023 he handed over military secrets about nuclear submarines to an Australian businessman in exchange for a $2.3 billion benefit for his Trump Foundation.

The initiative originated with 18 Republican senators, including current Secretary of State Marco Rubio, all fearing that inaction would damage their party in the midterm elections this November.

If successful, this would be the third impeachment attempt against Trump, who has always enjoyed the support of all Republicans and Democrats aligned with his style of governance, allowing him to emerge unscathed.

Former US President Donald Trump shared classified information about US nuclear submarines with a billionaire Australian businessman shortly after leaving office, at a meeting at his private Florida club, Mar-a-Lago.

The New York Times identified the Australian billionaire as Anthony Pratt, who runs one of the world’s largest packaging companies. In their conversation, Trump revealed critical data about the tactical capabilities of US submarines, including “how many nuclear warheads the vessels carried and how close they could get to their Russian counterparts without being detected.”

ABC News, which first broke the story, said Pratt then shared sensitive details about US submarines with “dozens of other people, including more than a dozen foreign officials, several of his own staffers, and a handful of journalists.”

Sources told the Times that Trump’s disclosures “potentially jeopardized the US nuclear fleet.”

THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME

Federal prosecutors, who previously investigated Trump for storing classified material at Mar-a-Lago after he left office, interviewed Pratt twice about the incident and subsequently gathered further credible information that proved the former president's guilt.

But on that occasion, nothing happened to the tycoon, thanks to his numerous allies, despite having taken dozens of highly confidential files that jeopardized U.S. national security.

Democrat Mark Warner (Virginia) acknowledged the danger posed to the country by the type and quantity of information found so far in former President Trump's possession. Among the classified documents at Mar-a-Lago were "some of the most confidential intelligence reports," Warner said.

Warner said that the panel of senators, comprised of members from both parties, assessed the impact and “threats to national security” due to the mishandling of documents that the former Republican president took to his residence in the White House.

The request to the Department of Justice was made jointly with Republican Senator Marco Rubio (Florida), who was the ranking member of his party on the panel, although also a close supporter of Trump.

Now he has apparently been forced to join the new attempt to remove the man he considered his favorite and who guided him through an aggressive and brutal policy of subjugation in Latin America, from the military aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of its president, to the tightening of the criminal blockade against Cuba, including pressure, blackmail, and threats aimed at imposing right-wing regimes in several nations.
