The Prime Minister of Djibouti, Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Julio César Sánchez Martínez, in a meeting to review the progress of bilateral cooperation, the Caribbean diplomatic mission reported today.
During the interview, Sánchez Martínez thanked the African nation for its support of Havana at the United Nations General Assembly during the vote against the U.S. blockade imposed on the island for over six decades, the source specified.
The day prior, the President of the National Assembly, Dileita Mohamed Dileita, held talks with the Cuban diplomat, an occasion on which he also welcomed Djiboutian backing for Cuba against that unilateral and extraterritorial U.S. policy.
They also discussed ways to expand parliamentary ties.
During the vote at the United Nations, held on October 28, 130 countries voted against Washington's blockade, only 17 supported it, and 25 abstained.
Cuba and Djibouti established diplomatic relations on November 21, 1998, characterized by friendship and close collaboration, particularly in the healthcare field, spanning nearly all medical specialties.
