The Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba Ramón Castro Ruz died today at the age of 91 years, said a note issued here.

Born in Biran, current province of Holguin, on October 14, 1924, he was imprisoned by the regime of dictator Fulgencio Batista in 1953, the text says.

During the liberation war he cooperated with the July 26 Movement and organized one of the networks for supplies to the Frank País Second Eastern Front, highlights the text.

It also notes that after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959, Ramón Castro Ruz developed various activities at different levels in the agricultural sector, mainly in sugarcane and livestock branches.
