UN outlines projections in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic

United Nations, June 25 (Prensa Latina) The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres presented on Thursday a plan of action with the measures adopted by the multilateral organization and the projections to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The initiative establishes a future-oriented policy program to help countries better recover from the pandemic, and address the needs of the most vulnerable, Guterres noted.

'We cannot recreate the systems that aggravated this crisis,' he underscored, urging a better reconstruction with more sustainable, inclusive and gender equality societies and economies.

'This is the time to invest in energy sources that do not pollute or cause emissions, but generate decent jobs and save money,' Guterres told reporters.

Therefore, the plan comprises a strategy based on three cornerstones, beginning with a coordinated and comprehensive healthcare response, guided by the World Health Organization.

It also includes elements to address the devastating socio-economic, humanitarian and human rights aspects of the Covid-19 crisis, and create the right conditions for the recovery process.
