Oslo, Mar 11 (Prensa Latina) Norwegian health authorities on Thursday suspended the administration of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine and joined a similar decision by the Danish Government announced earlier.

During a press conference in the capital, Geir Bukholm, director of the National Institute of Public Health, stated that Norway is gathering information on what happened in Denmark, where health sources reported the suspension of the vaccine following the detection of blood clots in immunized patients.

Although Denmark did not issue a conclusive judgment to prove the relationship between the two events, the vaccine developed between the United Kingdom and Sweden is also being analyzed due to the death of several inoculated patients, according to local media.

A similar decision was announced by the Austrian Government following the death of a nurse who suffered from coagulation disorders after being immunized.

Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Luxembourg followed them, despite a preliminary investigation by the European Medicines Agency linking the drug to the Austrian death.

AstraZeneca's suspension in these countries comes one year after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Covid-19 a pandemic, a disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Europe is the epicenter of the pandemic, with 30. In addition, 587,575 people have been infected, 875,738 of whom have died.
