Cuban Top Parliamentarian Congratulates New Belarusian House Chair

Cuban Parliament President Esteban Lazo congratulated Belarusian Igor Sergueyenko for his recent election as chair of that country’s Chamber of Representatives.

“We are convinced that under your leadership, we will keep strengthening relations of friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation between our parliaments and peoples,” said Lazo in a letter sent to the Belarusian lawmaker. Lazo also ratified his will to keep working along the Cuban embassy in Minsk in the coordination of the joint working schedule for 2024.

In December 2022, Esteban Lazo paid and official visit to Belarus, which favored the expansion of bilateral relations after the signing of an MOU which paved the way for the signing in In October 2023 of an Inter-parliament Cooperation Accord.

Igor Serguyenko was elected chair of the Chamber of Representatives of Belarus’ National Assembly during the first session of that legislative body of parliament.
