Singer Enrique Iglesias said that going to Cuba to produce his latest single gave him the chance to visit the island for the first time, but that he is looking forward to more.

The pop superstar Enrique Iglesias spent three days in Havana recently recording the video for his new single "Súbeme la radio" (Turn the Radio on), but he said the work was so intense that he had no time to stroll around the island.

"You know! In this career, one is always running against time... We didn't have enough time (to do anything else)," Iglesias told Associated Press by email.

What he did have a chance to see was "people pouring love and caring for us," he said.

Iglesias share voices in the new single with Cuban singer and songwriter Descemer Bueno, who has previously composed several tracks for the Spanish-American artist.

One of those tracks is "Bailando," which became a super a super hit when it was released in 2017.

The director in charge of the video for the new single is Alejandro Pérez, another Cuban with whom Iglesias has worked before. He directed the video of "Bailando" that became one of the top 10 most-played videos of all times in YouTube.

Pérez has produced other videos for Iglesias and other musicians like Mark Anthony and Maná.
Iglesias told the AP that the plan to work for a project in Cuba was overdue.

"I have many Cuban friends and doing something in Cuba was a pending matter," Iglesias said.
