Pinar del Rio, Cuba, Mar 2 (Prensa Latina) Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), ratified to peasants and cooperative farmers of this western province, the confidence of the Revolution in their work.

Machado Ventura, who is also a member of the PCC Political Bureau, chaired the assembly of the 12th Congress of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP), which summarizes the analysis process of the organization, with more than 38,000 members, responsible in this province for the largest volumes in food and tobacco productions.

Characterized with a deep patriotic feeling and thanks to the social project that led by Fidel Castro made possible the delivery of the first land titles 61 years ago in Pinar del Rio, the meeting addressed the internal functioning of the organization and its productive responsibility.

We have to replace imports and export, said the second secretary of the PCC Central Committee, who also called to reach tobacco yields of two tons per hectare in response to the demand of the national economy.

The tobacco leaf harvested in Cuba, especially in Pinar del Rio, is unrivaled in the world, so we have to grow in areas for cultivation and also in investments, Machado Ventura said while urging to materialize local self-supply despite the restrictions imposed by the US economic, financial and commercial blockade.

The ANAP analysis process, started last year throughout the country, will conclude in May with the holding of its 12th Congress.
