Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel called today in this capital to redouble efforts in the housing construction program, under the premises of order, legality and transparency.

Speaking to legislators at the Havana Convention Center, the head of State stressed that such a plan in a general sense is a very sensitive issue for the nation, and we must honor the political will to solve this problem.

After the parliamentarians' analysis of the results of audited construction materials stores for subsidized workers, Díaz-Canel pointed out that it is necessary to continue a work style marked by control and not oversight.

He called each one to assume their responsibility and not rely that others are responsible for carrying out their work.

'You should not live with deficiencies, illegalities and corruption,' these must be faced firmly and decisively, emphasized the Caribbean president.

Things happened that should not have happened, and if the role of the Central State Administration bodies is vital at this time, the role of municipal and provincial entities is also important, because the work at the base is essential, said Díaz-Canel.

There are organization problems, obstacles and bureaucracy that slow down the process, and what is needed is to plan a simpler way and control, said the Antillean head of State.

The bureaucrats are part of a system that must be destroyed, said Diaz-Canel.

He insisted on applying computerization, something that would benefit the program, for example, electronic commerce would be developed and procedures streamlined.

We must aspire to make decisions and perform acts from the grassroots and not always expect guidance from higher levels, said the president, who urged to seek a more efficient management system to combat bureaucracy and not let problems accumulate.

The President stressed the importance of collegiate management to avoid discrediting and mistrust, and noted that conciliation is essential, as well as fighting embezzlement and detours.

People who need to solve their housing problem must be treated with respect and sensitivity, and managers must be receptive to them, showing earnest concern to solve the situation, advised the president.

The housing program in Cuba is fair and noble, it must be accompanied by the culture of detail, and although subsidized citizens have preferential treatment, they must be responsible for the use of the resources that the State gives them, said Díaz-Canel . They have to achieve the end, they must build their home and once the process ends must be legalized, if not, problems will persist, said the president of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba.

Diaz-Canel confessed there are still difficulties in the housing program, but stressed that results are already visible and the best are the samples of sincere gratitude from the people, many people speak well of what the Revolution is doing.

The dignitary asked the president of the Parliament, Esteban Lazo, for legislators to continue inspecting this work, because today order, legality and transparency must prevail because nothing should tarnish the work of the Cuban Revolution.
