Cuba will adopt new Constitution of the Republic on April 10

The Council of State, in a meeting held last Monday, March 25, decided to hold an Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of People's Power for the coming Wednesday, April 10, at 9:00 a.m., in the Conventions Center, with the objective of proclaiming the new Constitution of the Republic of Cuba, endorsed in a Constitutional Referendum on February 24 of this year.
Likewise, it approved two decree-laws, the "Del Sistema Nacional de Grados Científicos" (National System of Scientific Degrees), regarding doctoral training in the country and the functioning of the National Commission of Scientific Degrees, and the "Del Creador Audiovisual y Cinematográfico Independiente" (Independent Audiovisual and Cinematographic Creator), which institutes the figures of the Creator and the Audiovisual and Cinematographic Creation Collectives, with the objective, among other issues, of guaranteeing the quality of their productions and the development of that activity. Both provisions, together with their complementary norms, will soon be published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cuba.
The Council of State also carried out a preliminary analysis of the results of the Constitutional Referendum, based on the information provided by the National Electoral Commission.
Finally, it agreed to convene another Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of People's Power for April 13, at 9:00 a.m., in the same place, in order to evaluate the progress of the National Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030 and to know the status of the implementation of the Guidelines approved at the Seventh Congress of the Party. The standing commissions of the Parliament will meet on April 11 and 12.
