Pro-Cuba Demonstration Held in Madrid

From the Atocha roundabout to the Plaza de la Provincia, adjacent to the Plaza Mayor, a march took place where participants sang songs, shouted slogans, and displayed posters calling for an end to White House hostility toward the Caribbean island.
The State Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MESC) in Spain spearheaded the call under the slogan "For the end of the United States blockade against Cuba." A total of 69 solidarity associations and groups from across Spanish territory joined the initiative, marching in an orderly fashion through the streets of Madrid until stopping at the gates of the Santa Cruz Palace, headquarters of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation.
The demonstration is part of an emergency campaign launched by the MESC titled "Against the U.S. Blockade, Energy for Cuba," which remains active until April 30. Likewise, organizers highlighted that this April 19 coincides with the anniversary of the victory at Playa Girón (Bay of Pigs), an emblematic date for the Cuban Revolution, considered "the first military defeat of imperialism in the Americas."
Regarding various actions undertaken by the Donald Trump administration against Cuba, the protesters demanded respect for the independence, sovereignty, and right to self-determination of the Caribbean nation.
"A collective punishment against the Cuban people, a massive violation of International Law that seeks to suffocate the island by preventing it from accessing oil and other essential energy resources," the MESC stated in a press release.
In parallel, the Movement has set up bank accounts through various regional associations to collect funds destined for the purchase of photovoltaic renewable energy equipment, food, and medical supplies.
"We do not only take to the streets to denounce; we also channel direct material solidarity toward Cuba. That is the double dimension of our commitment: political denunciation and humanitarian aid," the organization declared.
