Power Restoration Progresses in the Cuban Capital

La Empresa Eléctrica de La Habana destacó que el 35,8 por ciento de la ciudad cuenta en la actualidad con suministro eléctrico, incluidos 39 centros de salud y seis sistemas de abasto de agua.
The Havana Electric Company reported today that as of 6:28 AM local time, 22 substations in the Cuban capital were operational, generating 155.68 megawatts (MW).
This capacity allows for service to be maintained on 102 distribution circuits, benefiting 308,568 customers.
The capital's utility company highlighted that 35.8 percent of the city currently has electrical supply, including 39 health centers and six water supply systems.
Likewise, it indicated that the restoration of service will be carried out gradually, as conditions within the National Electric Grid permit.
Authorities from Cuba's Ministry of Energy and Mines reported the previous day that a fault caused the shutdown of the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Plant, located in the western province of Matanzas, which led to a partial collapse of the grid.
The Ministry itself announced today that at 5:01 AM local time, the grid was fully reconnected from the east to the west of the country.
Through its profile on the social network X, the agency specified that the restoration of the system was achieved from the eastern province of Guantánamo to the westernmost tip of Pinar del Río.
It noted that the process of gradually incorporating generation units into the system continues.
