The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, ruled out this Monday his country's participation in the so-called "Project Liberty," announced this Sunday by U.S. President Donald Trump. The project aims to liberate ships held in the Strait of Hormuz within the framework of the blockade caused by the crisis in the Middle East.
"We are not going to participate in any operation of forceful strength within a framework that does not seem clear to me," Macron stated during his visit to Yerevan, Armenia, for the European Political Community (EPC) summit.
At the same time, he recalled that "as soon as the ceasefire was declared," he spoke with both Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to ensure the truce included Lebanon. He advocated for a "coordinated reopening" between Washington and Tehran.
"It is the only solution that allows for the sustainable reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, permitting free navigation and doing so without restrictions and without tolls," he added.
