Cuban Ministry of Culture Supports Statement by Network of Intellectuals

Condena Red de Intelectuales amenazas imperialistas contra Cuba
The Cuban Ministry of Culture today endorsed the recent declaration issued by the Network of Intellectuals, Artists, and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity (REDH) against new threats from the United States government.
"We support this Declaration, which resolutely condemns the new threats by the United States against Cuba and calls for a stand against them and for closing ranks in support of Cuba," stated Minister of Culture Alpidio Alonso via social media.
The REDH denounced recent coercive measures and sanctions that reinforce the economic, commercial, and financial embargo imposed by Washington, characterizing them as acts of state terrorism intended to break the sovereignty and dignity of the Cuban people.
Cuban culture, as an essential component of the national identity, maintains a firm stance in defense of sovereignty and self-determination, free from external interference.
In its statement, the network emphasized that such interference is destined to fail in the face of the Caribbean nation’s historical resistance.
The communique calls upon intellectuals, artists, academics, social movements, and governments worldwide to speak out in defense of Cuba and to demand the immediate cessation of the embargo, while reaffirming the country's inalienable right to self-determination.
