The 20-meter wooden boat left the Turkish peninsula of Datca at about 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday and sank while sailing in the international waters of the Aegean Sea, according to the newspaper.

Five coastguard boats reached the scene and were able to rescue 211 people and retrieve the bodies of four children and 20 adults. Rescue operations are continuing for any more survivors.

Two other refugees, both Syrian nationals, also died when their boat sank near the town of Seferihisar in Izmir province, on the Aegean coast.

Eleven people were rescued from the shipwreck.
