The French capital made official its candidacy for the games on June 23, 2015.

That day was chosen for the presentation because the June 23, 1894 the International Olympic Committee was established in Paris.

The initiative for the nomination was strongly driven by the French Committee of International Sport, arguing that Paris and the European nation could conceive an Olympic and Paralympic project strong enough to win.

Minister of Youth and Sports, Patrick Kanner, supported the project that seeks to take advantage of the existing infrastructure.

The divisions generated on the subject focused mainly on whether to file the candidacy to host the 2024 Games or the World Expo in 2025.

Several elements came up for discussion, such as the fact that some said that exhibitions have contributed more to the city that the great sporting event. Moreover, the issue of the unfavorable economic situation facing the country was also managed.

The French capital recently presented his candidacy logo. The design shows the silhouette of the Eiffel Tower and suggests the number 24. Paris will compete with Budapest, Hamburg, Los Angeles and Rome. The name of the host city will be unveiled in September 2017.

Paris hosted the Summer Olympic Games in 1900 and 1924.
