New Colloquium to Reaffirm the Relevance of Fidel's Thought

The First International Colloquium "Fidel, Legacy and Future," recently convened and scheduled for August 10-13, will delve into the ideas of the Commander in Chief within today's complex times, marking the centennial of his birth.

Sissi Abay Díaz, Deputy Director of the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, the sponsoring institution for the event to be held at Havana's Convention Palace, stated at a press conference that the gathering will become an opportunity to reaffirm the influence of the leader of the Cuban Revolution in the struggle against imperialism, inequalities, climate change, and his commitment to peace.

Ten Core Themes on Fidel's Revolutionary Work
She communicated that ten themes linked to the revolutionary, internationalist, humanistic work and cultural essence of Fidel as a historical personality and a formative axis for new generations will be developed.

She detailed that, as part of the program designed for the event, there will be keynote lectures, roundtables, panels, book presentations, and documentary screenings.

Symposiums and Forums for Diverse Sectors
She also explained that a symposium dedicated to the Cuban revolutionary process will be held, along with various forums aimed at youth, the role of women, social movements, and networks of artists and intellectuals.

Broad International Interest
The specialist noted that the call has been well received by scholars from the United States, Spain, and Latin America, and emphasized the expected participation of academics, researchers, politicians, and communicators to enhance critical debate.

She also reported that several paper proposals from around the world have been received in a short time and highlighted that the deadline for submissions will be extended until the end of May.

The event is organized with the collaboration of other institutions and will join the commemorative activities the country is undertaking for the centennial of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution.
