With the presence of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, the burial ceremony for four of the 32 combatants who fell in Venezuela on January 3rd during the attack perpetrated by US forces is taking place at Havana's Colón Cemetery.

Floral wreaths on behalf of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution; of Díaz-Canel; of the Ministries of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) and the Interior (Minint); of the families; and of the people of Cuba lead the tribute.

At this site, representatives of the FAR, the Minint, and different sectors of society are gathering to pay heartfelt homage to the heroes who gave their lives in a dignified response to the criminal aggression against that people and the kidnapping of its President, Nicolás Maduro.

Accompanying the President are Political Bureau members Corps General Álvaro López Miera, Minister of the FAR, and Corps General Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas, head of the Minint, among other representatives of the Party, the Government, and mass, social, and student organizations.

Earlier this Friday, a March of the Combative People was held at the Anti-Imperialist Tribune, alongside tribute ceremonies in all provincial capitals.

The remains of the fallen will be interred in the Pantheons of the Fallen for the Defense of their respective localities; likewise, other posthumous tribute acts are being held in all municipalities across the country.

This event is yet another occasion to reaffirm the commitment of Cubans to their revolutionary process and to demonstrate that the largest of the Antilles will not yield to any pressure or threat.
