The United States may be preparing for a world war, according to American journalist Tucker Carlson. He bases this assertion on the decision by President Donald Trump's administration to raise the defense budget for fiscal year 2027 to a record-breaking figure of $1.5 trillion.
Carlson argues there is no alternative justification for such a colossal increase. "Generally speaking, obviously, that's the kind of budget a country allocates to its military when it anticipates a world war or a regional war. There is no other reason to do it," the host stated.
In the journalist's view, the nature of this budgetary allocation is unequivocally offensive. "It's not a budget to maintain peace. It's a war budget, a big war budget," he declared.
"Therefore, I think it's logical to expect, and all indications point to it, that we are soon going to have a major war. A major war soon," he affirmed. While also expressing his personal desire for this not to happen, he emphasized that "it is evident that we are moving in that direction, towards a world war."
U.S. President Donald Trump announced a 50% increase in the military budget for 2027, reaching a record $1.5 trillion. He claimed the funds would come from tariffs levied on other countries. In his Truth Social post, Trump asserted this level would allow building the "dream military" and guarantee national security.
