The warmongering escalation by the United States government against Venezuela threatens not only that nation’s sovereignty, but also the peace and security of Latin America and the Caribbean. This has been denounced by Cuba in multiple forums, recognizing the urgency of halting such aggression and reaffirming its unwavering solidarity with the Venezuelan people and government.
In this regard, Political Bureau member and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, highlighted on X that the United Nations Security Council meeting held this week demonstrated the international community’s serious concerns regarding repeated U.S. violations of International Law and the Law of the Sea, as well as the executions and extrajudicial killings carried out by its military forces in the region.
The session made clear that, despite persistent American falsehoods, the war on drugs is an unfounded pretext to justify aggression against a sovereign nation, overthrow a legitimate government, and seize Venezuela’s oil and other resources, he emphasized.
The Foreign Minister called on the United States to halt this aggression, cease manipulating terrorism as a political weapon, and put an end to double standards.
Furthermore, before the UN, Cuba characterized the imperialist maneuvers—which include acts of piracy and maritime terrorism in international waters of the Caribbean Sea—as “irresponsible and unprecedented.”
Through its Permanent Representative, Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, the Greater Antilles condemned the “arbitrary and politically motivated” U.S. decision to designate the Bolivarian Government as a foreign terrorist organization, and demanded respect for Venezuela’s sovereignty, independence, and right to freely determine its own destiny, free from external interference.
