Cuba Present at the Santiago de Chile Book Fair

With a diverse offering that includes titles from various authors, music, and crafts, Cuba is participating today in the International Book Fair of Santiago (Filsa), held at the Centro Cultural Estación Mapocho in the Chilean capital.

A Showcase of Cuban Literature and Culture

Among the texts featured at this literary event are publications from Ediciones Cubanas and other publishing houses, including works by Eliseo Diego, Virgilio Piñera, and Herminio Almendros. The selection also features poetry books and themes related to Afro-descendancy.

“We bring a diverse selection so that our writers are recognized and positioned internationally,” stated Cetmilena Denny, e-commerce manager for the Soy Cubano agency, which belongs to the Artistic and Literary Promotions company Artex, in an interview with Prensa Latina.

Music and Crafts from the Island

Elio Castro, director of the Artex branch in Matanzas, explained that the significant representation of Cuban music at the fair is because the Bis Music record agency also belongs to the parent company. Among the records on offer are those by Omara Portuondo, Sindo Garay, Elito Revé, and María Victoria, to name just a few.

The Cuban stand at Filsa 2025 also boasts a varied display of the island's crafts.

Promoting Cuban Art and Literature

“Participating in this type of event allows us to disseminate and commercialize the works of our visual artists and writers,” expressed the director of Artex in the province of Matanzas.

The International Book Fair, the most important literary event in Chile, opened its doors on November 21st and will run until the 30th.
