The president of the Cuban National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament) Esteban Lazo greeted Hammoudah Sabbagh after resulting reelected president of Syria’s Peoples Assembly.

Lazo extended his congratulations on his X account and reiterated his willingness to tighten the links between the two parliaments.

Sabbagh was reelected Parliament president at a special session of the Assembly in Damascus. He has been on that post since 2017.

The Cuban and Syrian parliaments share close relations, which is evidenced by the Cuba-Syria Friendship Parliamentary Group, set up in 2023.
