China is greatly concerned over mass civilian casualties due to Israel military operations in Gaza, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday, referring to a question over an Israeli strike on a Gaza school where more than 100 people were killed on August 10.

China condemns all acts against civilians and oppose violations of international law, and urges Israel to a ceasefire and fully protecting civilians to avoid flare-up of regional tensions, Lin said.

The spokesperson added that China urges the international community to double efforts to end the humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
