Valdes Mesa describes May Day parade in Santiago de Cuba as extraordinary

Santiago de Cuba, May 1 (RHC)--Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa described as exceptional the International Workers' Day parade held Sunday at the  Mayor General Antonio Maceo Revolution Square in Santiago de Cuba.

In statements to the press at the celebration's closing, Valdés Mesa said it was a very organized and combative parade, with brightness and revolutionary enthusiasm.

"In the square that honors the memory of the "Bronze Titan" paraded all the grateful ones, then Santiago de Cuba has made a demonstration of what President Miguel Díaz-Canel asked for, which was through this great parade, to exhibit the unity of the Revolution," said the member of the Political Bureau.

Valdés Mesa praised the participation of the young people of Santiago in the march for May 1; they are the ones who have always been present in all the tasks as in the confrontation to the COVID-19 epidemic, and how they paraded is the expression of continuity to the victory of January 1959.

Once again, from the eastern city, it was made known to the world that the people defend the achievements of the workers and repudiate the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.

In this regard, the Vice President said, "we have not overcome the pandemic; there is still no vaccine to cure this disease, but with the response of our scientists and our people we have managed to dominate it, control it, research continues, and the most important thing is that we have returned
