The condemnation of the US blockade against Cuba will be one of the messages that Cubans living in the United Kingdom will take to the upcoming European virtual forum of solidarity with the Caribbean island, said Cubans in the UK association.
I think that this meeting will be of great importance, since we will be sending a strong message to the US government that we are against the blockade, and its hostile and interfering policy towards our country, told Prensa Latina Daniesky Acosta, who lives in the Scottish city of Glasgow.
The different associations of Cubans living in Europe are planning to hold a virtual meeting on October 24, due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The online forum, which will take place in a context marked by the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against the Caribbean country for 60 years, will include statements by the participants and a tribute to Cuban culture and idiosyncrasy.
Valia Rodriguez, from Birmingham, said that the event will also reaffirm the support of the Cuban community in Europe for the right of her native country to self-determination and to choose socialism as the only system that can guarantee sovereignty and social justice.
From London, academician Miriam Palacios recalled that Cubans living in Europe have a long history of solidarity with Cuba and of condemnation of U.S. hostility towards their country.
Cubans in the UK will also add their voice to the international call to award the Nobel Peace Prize to the work of the Cuban internationalist medical brigades that are fighting against Covid-19 in different countries of the world.
