Venezuela demands to stop lies at Human Rights Council
Geneva, Sep 23 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela demanded on Wednesday that the UN Human Rights Council stop lies and the use of an alleged verification mission to attack it, which plays the role of US interference.

Ambassador Jorge Valero rejected the report presented at the 45th Session of the Council by the Independent International Mission for the Determination of Facts in Venezuela, which he described as a ghost and as belonging to the Lima Group, an initiative created to attack the Bolivarian Revolution.

According to the diplomat, the Council has two paths, one of maintaining the presence of an Office of the High Commissioner recognized for its cooperation in the field, and another of continuing with the mission of the Lima Group, which he accused of acting in harmony with the interventionist plans of President Donald Trump.

In that sense, Valero recalled that the 47-member body has the mandate to guarantee objectivity, universality and non-selectivity in the management of human rights.

The ambassador denounced the waste of three million dollars by the UN for the work of a mission that manipulates and uses convenient sources to lie about the reality of his country, a crusade turned into a business by non-governmental organizations and other sectors.

We ask the High Commissioner (Michelle Bachelet) to inform this Council on what a phantom mission spent the money on, which in practice hinders the work of the Office in Caracas, which should be reinforced, he noted after the intervention of the head of the group, Marta ValiƱas, who mentioned alleged human rights violations by Venezuelan security forces.

Valero referred that those false accusations cannot be seen separately from the recent tour of the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo across countries bordering Venezuela, a journey aimed - he added - to arrange actions to overthrow the legitimate President Nicolas Maduro.
