About 1,000 delegates, including the agricultural sector, are expected to attend the Seventh Congress of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), although all areas, including non-state management, are represented, it was informed here today.

A comment by Granma newspaper states that ensuring greater representation of all communist militancy in the country and achieving that participants seem increasingly to the place from which they came, were unavoidable requirements for the election of the delegates to the meeting, to be held from April 16 to 18.

The number of people attending this event is equal to that of the previous edition, and will be led by the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the first secretary of the PCC Central Committee, Raul Castro, elected in Santiago de Cuba, in the Jose Marti district and the Segundo Frente municipality, in that order.

All territories are represented in the same proportion, says the comment entitled "El rostro de un pais en el Congreso partidista."

The text explains that the nomination of candidates for delegates began in all PCC cores since June 2015, and it was precisely within those structures where the proposals, which emphasize the democratic nature of the process, emerged.

Then, the Municipal Committees of the organization took the responsibility for selecting a Candidacy Commission to assess those elected and submit them, even, to the analysis of workers with whom they share their working hours.

After expanding in this issue, the document said that about 43.2 percent of participants are women, and more than 84 percent are university graduates.

In addition, the average age is 48 years old, although 55 participants are under 35.

The text stresses that this whole stage of selection of delegates was preceded by the working analysis meetings and elections of the Party leadership structures in municipalities, districts, and provinces, a process that lasted from September to December 2015.

The note remembers that with the participation of one million and a half people, including some non-PCC members, those meetings assessed, in general, the compliance with the Economic and Social Policy Guidelines and the objectives adopted during the First National Conference of the Party. Also included is the work carried out with the younger generation and in confronting subversion and other negative trends, such as corruption, illegalities, and social indisciplines.

The examination of such issues, with the sight set on the responsibility of the Party in solving those problems, will undoubtedly be included in the agenda of the coming Party meeting, concludes the comment published by the Cuban Communist Party's official daily.
