Vietnam’s Parliament approves salary and pension increases

Hanoi, Nov 12 (Prensa Latina) The National Assembly of Vietnam approved the Resolution on the estimation of the state budget for 2023, which stipulates increases in salaries and pensions starting next July.

According to the resolution, the base salary of leaders, officials, and civil servants will increase to 1.8 million dongs (about 72 dollars) a month starting on July 1, 2023.

As of the same date, pensions and social security allowances will increase by 12.5 percent and additional support will be provided to those who retired before 1995 with low benefits.

The resolution also establishes a raise in the subsidy for people with meritorious services to a level not lower than the standard of poor households in urban areas, and a 20.8-percent increase in expenditures in social welfare policies attached to the base salary.
