Venezuela ratified today the defense of the United Nations Charter principles, on the commemoration of the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace.
President Nicolas Maduro wrote in his Twitter account that it was Commander Hugo Chavez (1954-2013) who laid the foundations of the Bolivarian Diplomacy for Peace that we assume today.
‘Our Revolution will always defend the principles of the United Nations Charter, for a world of respect for diversity, free from imperialist interference’, expressed the president.
In a message on the same social network, Foreign Minister Yvan Gil reminded the date and stressed that it is an ‘essential path’ for the development of peoples in a new world of balance, respect, diversity and brotherhood.
The UN General Assembly approved on December 12, 2018 by resolution, to observe the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace every April 24, with a record ballot of 144 votes in favor and two against.
That world body invites all its member states, observers and organizations to spread the benefits of multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, through educational and public awareness activities, among other initiatives.
