US Solidarity Committee ratifies its rejection of blockade on Cuba

Washington, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) The Cuba Solidarity Committee of the US city of Hartford ratified its commitment to extend its efforts to strengthen its opposition to the blockade imposed on the island by Washington, it was announced today.

In a statement signed by the president of the group, Alex Koskinas, he pointed out the will to strengthen at local and Connecticut state level the rejection of the economic, commercial and financial siege, as well as to participate in national and global campaigns in support of the Cuban Revolution. He stressed that the socialist nation faces enormous challenges, exacerbated by the worsening international economic crisis, the Covid-19 pandemic and, above all, the recrudescence of the hostile policy of the White House under the presidency of Donald Trump (2017-2021), which continued his successor Joe Biden.

“It is our duty, as activists inside the “belly of the beast,” to redouble our efforts and match the resilience and courage of our brothers in Cuba to put an end to the criminal and inhumane policies of the US government!” emphasized the text to which Prensa Latina had access.

Since its foundation in 1993, the Gran Hartford Solidarity Committee with Cuba has brought together residents of the region and other areas of the state of Connecticut to raise awareness in the communities about Washington’s coercive measures against the island. In this sense, it organizes public opposition to the blockade, which has been in force for more than six decades and is considered a violation of human rights.

In addition, the group supports the confrontation of slander campaigns and acts of destabilization against the Caribbean government, while highlighting the achievements of the revolutionary people.

Late last week, Havana’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Pedro Luis Pedroso, Ambassador Yuri Gala, Minister Roberto Hernandez and Second Secretary Ernesto Sierra toured Connecticut to meet with residents and promote bilateral ties.
