United Nations, Feb 19 (Prensa Latina) UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry will participate today in an event on the US reentry into the Paris Agreement, where proposals to encourage climate ambition to challenge the current environmental crisis will also be debated.

Indeed, one of the first measures adopted by the US President Joe Biden after taking office was aimed at establishing the reentry of his country into the Paris Agreement and also reversing the policy promoted by his predecessor Donald Trump.

Trump, six months after taking office in January 2017, announced that the United States would withdraw such an international agreement, focused on fighting climate change and reducing globally-increased temperatures.

Now, the Joe Biden administration is hoping to put climate change situation as top priority and question Trump's actions, according to Kerry.

¨We will do as much as possible to make up for that three-year absence,¨ he said.
