Havana, Nov 24 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan triplet Yulimar Rojas and Cuban fighter Mijaín López remain unstoppable today in the Prensa Latina Sports Poll, after receiving the vote of Argentine Telefé channel.

Rojas, current Olympic champion and world record holder (15.67 meters), reached 30 preferences to broadly dominate the Best Female Athlete category, ahead of sprinters Elaine Thompson, from Jamaica, and Marileidy Paulino, from the Dominican Republic, who won two votes.

Meanwhile, Greco López, winner of gold medals in Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020, now files 20 ballots and leads his compatriot and boxer Andy Cruz and Lionel Messi, both with four votes.

As expected, the audiovisual media supported the candidacy of the Argentine monarch team in the Copa América of soccer, which also leads the section by groups.

The white-blue team adds 17 votes and surpasses the Cuban canoeing duo of Fernando Dayán Jorge and Serguey Torres (eight), kings in the fight under the five rings of the Japanese capital.

After the pause in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Prensa Latina launched another edition of its Sports Survey on November 8 to select the main exponents of Latin America and the Caribbean in 2021.

The votes of the different media -radio, television, written and digital press- can be sent (never in a personal capacity) to the following email address: deporte@prensa-latina.cu.
