US President Donald Trump stated this Saturday that it will be Washington that directs politics in Venezuela until the White House considers it can "make a safe transition."

Trump's words were offered during a press conference from the White House, after earlier in the morning the US leader himself confirmed a series of bombings against Venezuela and the abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

"We want peace, freedom, and justice for the great people of Venezuela, and that includes many Venezuelans who now live in the US and want to return to their country as their homeland. We cannot risk someone else taking control of Venezuela," expressed Trump, who added that his government will not "allow that to happen."

"We are already there (...) and we will stay until the proper transition takes place. So we will stay until, essentially, we can execute it, until a proper transition occurs," emphasized Trump, accompanied by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, among other high officials of his administration.

US Prepares "a Second Wave" of Bombings

Meanwhile, Trump announced that the Pentagon is ready "to launch a second, much larger attack" against Venezuela "if necessary." "So we were prepared for a second wave if necessary," stressed the US leader, who affirmed that his administration had already assumed "that a second wave" of military attacks would be needed.

"But now it probably won't be. The first wave. If you prefer to call it that, the first attack was so successful that we probably won't have to do a second one, but we are prepared for a second wave, a much larger wave, in fact," Trump advanced.

"Gigantic US Oil Companies" to Enter Venezuela

During his speech, Trump indicated that following the political control he asserts will be executed in Venezuela, the path will be opened for "gigantic US oil companies" to enter and exploit Venezuelan energy resources.

"As everyone knows, the oil business in Venezuela has been a failure. A total failure for a long time. They were extracting almost nothing compared to what they could have been extracting and what could have occurred."

"We are going to have our gigantic US oil companies. The biggest in the world. Go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the infrastructure that is badly damaged," said Trump, who affirmed that by intervening in Venezuela's "oil infrastructure," the country will begin "to generate revenue."
