Two of the most relevant artists of Saint Lucia on Monday expressed their solidarity with Cuba and condemned the blockade imposed for six decades on this country by the United States.

Sculptor Jallim Eudovic and painter and writer Alwyn St. Omer released a video through the Internet, in which they express their admiration and sympathy for Cuba, which they describe as sisterly and close, always supporting the peoples of the world.

Both creators demanded the White House administration to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade, as well as to the interference and offensive policies against Cuba.

Only the bases of dialogue, respect and relations between equals will make possible the development of a beneficial relationship between these territories and contribute to regional stability, Eudovic and St. Omer recall.

The former is known for his sculptural monument for the 40th anniversary of St. Lucia's independence, while the latter, in addition to being a painter and writer, stands out for being the son of Dunstan St. Omer, designer of the national flag.

The artists thus joined the worldwide campaign against the US blockade and in support of the island, which took place last weekend in nearly 50 cities in the United States and Canada, among other countries.

Personalities from Saint Lucia supported last January the proposal of the Nobel Peace Prize for the Henry Reeve International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Situations of Disasters and Serious Epidemics, made up of Cuban professionals.
