The Spanish airline Evelop will resume its operations to the Caribbean in November and Cuba will be the first of its destinations to reactivate, the news site Hosteltur reported.

According to the publication specialized in professional tourist information, Evelop will resume its Madrid-Havana route on November 15, due to the favorable evolution of demand towards the Antillean country.

In this way, the Ávoris airline, the Barceló Group's travel division, will advance its journey to the island, initially scheduled for December 7, after the paralysis of its flights due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking to Hosteltur, the company's new deputy general manager, Paul Verhagen, confirmed that, of the destinations traditionally operated by the airline (Havana, Cancun and Punta Cana), the first to be restored will be the Cuban capital.

'The first one we restart, most likely, will be Havana and, in fact, we are talking about bringing the first departures forward to Sunday, November 15 because we see that there is an appetite to fly to those destinations, there is demand, and we do not want to waste it' , he claimed.

From that date, Evelop will take off to the capital of the largest of the Antilles from its base at the Madrid-Barajas airport with a weekly frequency, which will increase to two in 2021, on the eve of Holy Week.

In the first days of December, it plans to restart operations on its routes to Cancun and Punta Cana, also once a week.

Verhagen warned, however, that the final programming will depend on the evolution of demand and the situation of Covid-19, the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

According to Hosteltur, the Portuguese subsidiary Orbest, belonging to the renowned tourism brand Barceló, will begin to fly in the summer of 2021 to the famous Cuban resort of Varadero, with a weekly frequency from Lisbon, the Portuguese capital.
