The II Havana Summer Festival and the first winter festival in Varadero are part of the plans for Cuba's Sea and Beach Project in 2026.
The objective is to consolidate its expansion, a priority assigned by the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education, and Recreation (INDER). Participation is also planned in the III Scientific Conference of the Cuban Sports Research Center (CIDC), a fitting scenario to share experiences.
Also scheduled are the International Symposium on Gender, Sport, and Society, and the University Festival, reinforcing the academic and social link.
"We will seek to finalize partnerships with strategic ministries such as Tourism; Science, Technology, and Environment; and Labor and Social Security," Paulo Hernández, the project leader, told JIT.
"The purpose is to promote sustainable development and expand growth opportunities for the project," he stated, before mentioning other aspirations.
He referred to the goal of advancing through the work stages designed for each province, ensuring that sea and beach sports have a territorial presence and a broader impact.
"Internationalization is a key challenge: achieving foreign participation in the convened events will raise the competitive level and strengthen cultural and scientific exchange," the official elaborated.
Simultaneously, lines of work will be explored in areas such as sponsorship, advertising, and marketing, necessary to ensure the promotion and sustainability of the project within the Cuban sports scene.
During 2025, the I Havana Summer Festival, methodological workshops, scientific conferences, the INDER forum, and the presentation of an Environmental Management System to mitigate ecological impacts were carried out.
The project also advanced in ISO 14001 standards, environmental care actions, media presence, incorporation of new modalities, and strengthening of its work dimensions.
"We hope for a successful 2026, a year in which our work will be dedicated to celebrating the centenary of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz," Hernández concluded.
