Russian baseball team to play in Cuba in April

The Russian baseball team will travel to Cuba on April 3 to play several games against the national and youth teams, according to Russian Baseball Federation President Dimitri Kiseliov.

The Russian official added that the tour will last until April 17, a period during which they will play seven games, the dates and schedules of which will be set with the Cuban side, TASS news agency reported.

On Tuesday, the Russian national team’s roster will be approved. ‘Final preparations for the flight to Cuba are already underway,’ the senior official noted.

‘During the visit, an agreement on cooperation between the baseball federations of Russia and Cuba will be signed,’ Kiseliov added.

On late November 2022, the European Executive Committee of the World Baseball and Softball Confederation suspended Russia from European competitions during the 2023 season.

That decision affects Russian athletes, coaches, professionals and officials at all levels and age groups.
