Russia to try to prevent NATO expansion worldwide

Moscow, Oct 27 (Prensa Latina) Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday assured his country will do as much as possible to counteract the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) plans to extend its mission around the world.

Speaking to the press, Russia's foreign minister claimed there were evidence that NATO chiefs are currently focusing on the East, and have already said -according to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg- that its mission should be extended to the Indo-Pacific region.

'I think these are too dangerous games and we will do our best to counteract tendencies of this kind and make all nations subjected to such attempts aware of dangers,' Lavrov said.

In Lavrov´s viewpoint, diplomatic work alone is not enough to prevent NATO´s expansion. ¨Other measures must be taken to match the threats posed with respect to Russia,' he pointed out.
