Moscow, Feb 18 (Prensa Latina) The advisor to the Russian Health minister, Alexei Kuznetsov, said on Thursday that his country is weighing the possibility of conducting clinical trials on the Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine on children and teenagers.

The topic of the conduction of clinical trials to use the Sputnik V vaccine on children and teenagers under 18 is being assessed, Kuznetsov told Sputnik news agency.

He noted that the decision will be made after getting the results of the main study that has been conducted since the registration of the vaccine, which is expected to be completed by May.

According to the Russian agency, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin informed on Thursday that three research stages of the use of Sputnik V on teenagers from 14 to 18 years of age will be conducted in a hospital in the Russian capital.

The Nicolai Gamaleya Epidemiology and Microbiology Center, which created Sputnik V, confirmed late in January that it was planning to test the vaccine on minors in 2021.

In February, Center Director Alexander Gintsburg said that he was confident that research will start in June.
