Putin announces registration of first coronavirus vaccine

Moscow, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) President Vladimir Putin announced on Tuesday the official registration of the world's first coronavirus vaccine, Moscow television informed.

I understand that the world's first vaccine against Covid-19 was officially registered today morning. That is why I ask Health Minister Mikhail Murashkin to inform us about this issue, Putin said at the beginning of a virtual meeting with the Government.

The vaccine works effectively and forms a stable immunity, in addition, it has passed all the necessary checks, the head of State stated.

The Russian Covid-19 vaccine will be applied first to doctors and elderly people nationwide, Deputy Health Minister Oleg Gridner said on Friday.

The vaccine, developed by the Gamaleya Research Center in collaboration with the 48th Central Research Institute of the Russian Ministry of Defense, would now be ready to coordinate its production process.

In Russia, 47 prototypes of the vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19, are being developed on 14 scientific platforms.
