Havana, Sep 29 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel confirmed the damages caused by Hurricane Ian in the western province of Mayabeque, where 3000 people remain evacuated.
While participating in a meeting of the Provincial Defense Council (CDP), the Cuban president evaluated the recovery actions after the damages caused by the penetrations of the sea in the municipalities of Batabanó, Melena del Sur and San Nicolás, the most affected areas.
During the meeting, the president of the CDP, Yuniasky Crespo, informed that it was necessary to evacuate more than 12000 people in the demarcation, many of whom have already returned to their homes.
She pointed out that 961 hectares of various crops in the municipalities of Quivicán, Melena del Sur, Güines and Batabanó were also affected.
