The National Assembly of People's Power (parliament) of Cuba today condemned the US government's attempts to exclude the island from the 9th Summit of the Americas to be held next June.

A statement approved by the MPs expressed their support for the denunciation made by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez in the face of this new aggressive action by the United States against Cuba.

The lawmakers rejected the disinformation campaign that tries to show the world an image that does not exist in Cuba and creates fake news and includes Cuba in spurious lists of alleged support to terrorism.

The document reiterated the condemnation of the US blockade and denounced actions by the US government which deliberately and opportunistically intensified this coercive policy during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Cuban deputies thanked governments and parliaments of the region for their dignified position of solidarity with Cuba in spite of US administration’s pressures in its attempts to silence the voice of the island at the 9th Summit of the Americas to be held in Los Angeles, California.

They showed the support of the Cuban legislative body to efforts made to promote a true integration in the region based on respect for diversity, peace and solidarity.

The Assembly opened its sessions in this capital with a minute of silence for the victims of the accident at the Saratoga Hotel on May 6 and approved an agenda that includes the analysis of the country’s economic situation and the approval of eight bills.
