Holguin, Cuba, Oct 28 (Prensa Latina) The Organizing Committee of the Ibero-American Culture Festival called on Thursday to the 28th edition of that international event, to be held in the province of Holguin, in eastern Cuba.

For two years the usual concerts, book presentations, lectures, scientific events, among other activities of the Festival, have had to move to digital platforms due to the effects of Covid-19 worldwide.

Even under those new conditions, it has maintained its unifying spirit and the mission of highlighting the roots and traditions of the peoples that make up the geographical area.

Those issues will be remembered in the 'Remembrances of a fiesta' cultural magazine, which will be broadcasted on the official profile of the Casa de Iberoamerica on Facebook and the Clave channel of Cuban television.

The programme on Thursday also includes the start of the 10th Regional Workshop on Exchange and Experience: 'Culture and Resilience in the Community,' promoted by the Center for Exchange and Reference-Community Initiatives (CIERIC).

The encounter will be held both in person and virtually (through CIERIC's Telegram channel) and will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the 35th anniversary of the Hermanos Saiz Association and the 30th anniversary of CIERIC.

Among its thematic axes are innovative cultural and artistic production for resilient territorial progress; synergies and articulations for social transformation, and the contribution of art and culture to sustainable development goals at the community level.

The Ibero-American Culture Festival was developed for the first time in 1993, which hosted as its only venue the province of Holguin, where Christopher Columbus arrived here, on October 28, 1492.
