Paris, Apr 16 (Prensa Latina) The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on Thursday recommended Latin America to improve health coverage and social protection to achieve a solid recovery after coronavirus´ strong impact.

Among the structural reforms for the region to face the impact of present health crisis, OECD also considered encouraging investments and technologies for environmental purposes.

For Colombia, it is unlikely to carry out these recommendations due to coming legislative and presidential elections, while Chile supports a reform to fight marked socioeconomic inequality.

The OECD considered the redistributive impact of current income tax on Chilean individuals is too poor in one of the Latin American countries with highest per capita income.

In the case of Mexico, it suggested programs for the labor inclusion of women and informal workers who lost their jobs due to Covid-19, as part of a strategy to guarantee that the economic recovery means formal employments.
