Nicaragua's merchant ship Augusto Cesar Sandino on Monday sailed for Cuba, laden with solidarity aid from the government to respond to Cuba's peak of Covid-19 cases.

The vessel left the northern port of Arlen Siu, carrying Nicaragua's food for Cuba, in compliance with an orientation by the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity.

'This noble gesture by the Nicaraguan people and government carries a message of solidarity and endearing love,' Cuban Ambassador to Nicaragua Juan Carlos Hernandez said.

The diplomat valued this initiative by the Sandinista government, which also commemorates the 42nd anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
